WORKS ON KINCENTRICITY

This series is an ongoing reflection on how we feel/define “family.” It explores feeling not mere admiration for the natural world, or even gratitude, but an actual felt sense of intimacy and familial connection. In so much of modern urban/sub-urban life, humans can feel disconnected from the cycles, creatures, patterns, and processes of the Natural World. And yet, we are an un-parsable component of the Natural World, and that kinship is ever-present… just waiting to be felt and strengthened. What is a plant that you feel connected to, that you have watched grow, or that has been a part of your family for many years? Is there an animal (a specific individual or a species) that you feel deep resonance with - like a family member? Is there a rock or a field or body of water that feels like family for you and has supported your growth as a being? This body of work was largely set in motion by the clear and powerful work of Professor Enrique Salmon at CSU East Bay, California.
